Beth Shuzman
I earned my undergraduate degree from Boston University and my Master’s Degree from Hunter College Graduate School of Social Work. My journey as a therapist began at a clinic where I had the opportunity to support clients dealing with addiction issues, the impact of a loved one’s substance abuse, and various mental health concerns such as trauma, depression, and anxiety. Along with providing individual and group therapy, I also enjoyed mentoring other clinicians as they worked toward their independent licensure.
I specialize in supporting clients who have experienced trauma. To deepen my understanding, I completed advanced training at the Trauma Studies Center’s program at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. This training allowed me to integrate various therapeutic approaches, including, but not limited to, psychodynamic, sensorimotor/ somatic, mindfulness, and EMDR therapies.

My experience as a therapist began in the Philippines, where I earned a degree in clinical psychology and worked in private practice. I continued my work in Singapore at KK Women and Children’s Hospital and the Institute of Mental Health. After relocating to the U.S., I worked at a substance use clinic in New York City as a CASAC and earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Manhattan University. I now provide care to individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds.
My areas of focus include substance use, trauma, parenting challenges, especially with children with special needs, identity development in young adults, gambling addiction, and the unique experiences of immigrants and the Filipino community. I also value working with neurodiverse clients and strive to create a culturally attuned, nurturing, and empowering space.
Fluent in English and Filipino (Tagalog), I conduct therapy in both languages and integrate psychodynamic, person-centered, EMDR, CBT, and solution-focused approaches, always honoring each client’s unique story and strengths.
